Khalsa Panth 2

Khalsa Panth created by Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj is fulfilment of Divine Wish of Akaal purakh. This is the reason why Guruji said
(Khalsa is Army of All-time pervading lord, Khalsa has shined due to Lord’s Divine will.)

Guruji made Khalsa a Sant, Sipahi, Scholar and Servant of Humanity. Khalsa was to grow and flourish in Lord Akaal Purakh’s will. Guruji gave some duties to its Khalsa Panth, which it was to fulfil. Guruji gave Khalsa a Discipline, a rehat, which it was to follow, for Spiritual and Social growth. Guruji gave Khalsa a system of Administration, with which it was to govern itself and whole human society. Khalsa Panth’s biggest strength was its unflinching faith in One Akaal Purakh Waheguru and Guru Gobind Singh ji’s authority as father of Panth. Khalsa got its sweetness from Amrit of baani and motherly love and affection of Mata jeeto ji, who mixed Patase in Amrit and its Spiritual mother, Mata Sahib Kaur ji.

Khalsa Panth, as envisioned and created by Guru Gobind Singh ji was free from rigid divisions of Society. Here all the Sons of Guru, whichever caste or class they belonged to, sat together, lived together and Died together in battlefield, For their father Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji. Khalsa of Guru was like a cool breeze flowing in midst of hot summer of Kalyug. It was like a stream of fresh water flowing through a desert known as Earth, which was to quench thirst of all, irrespective of Caste, class, race or religion. Khalsa Panth of Guru was vast like Sky, deep as Sea, Quiet like Pacific and firm like mountain. It was forever ready to embrace anyone and everyone with open heart in its fold, in the Brotherhood of Pure. When Khalsa lived in jungles, there was scarcity of Langar for even the Soldiers, still before the Langar started, beats were given on Nagara, as a sign that Khalsa is going to have Langar, and everyone is welcome. History tells us even the enemies used to sit in pangat and have Guru Ka Langar. There was no enemy, no conflict that time; all were seen as Sons of one God, Waheguru.

Khalsa panth was created for protection of Dharma and upholding human values. Khalsa didn’t fight just for Sikhs or people of Punjab. It fought for Dharam, Truth and Justice. Khalsa never saw the caste or religion of the person who was being oppressed or wronged.
Year 1745, A Muslim, Rahim Baksh comes to Bhai Taru Singh ji and pleads for protection of her Daughter, who had been kidnapped by the Muslim governor of the area. Bhai sahib, just about to have langar, leaves it there, takes with him 35 singhs, attacks the palace, kills the governor and rescues the daughter of Muslim Rahim Baksh. He didn’t see that the person was muslim, or muslims were committing atrocities on Singhs, what he saw and felt and did was his Duty, The Bachans of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj to protect Gau-Gareeb (Poor and helpless). After some days Bhai sahib is arrested on this charge and Martyred. Khalsa sacrifices itself for its ideals.
Year 1757, Emperor Ahmed Shah Abdali loots and kills people of India upto Maharashtra. 18,000 women of India, mostly Hindu are captured and enslaved and taken to be sold in markets of Kabul, kandhar, ghazni and Baghdad. This whole group passes plains and plateaus of India, but no Maratha, no rajput, no jaat, no kshatriya came forward to help or rescue them. This caravan reaches the land of Singhs, Punjab. As soon as these helpless daughters of India know that they have reached Punjab, they start crying for help ‘ਮੋੜੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਕਛ ਵਾਲਿਆ’’( O baba with Long kacchera, Save us). The Japji and Jaap reading Khalsa of Guru dasmesh pita, led by Baba Deep Singh ji and Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia have their camp near river Markanda. For two nights, over a distance of 100 miles, singhs fight and rescue those 18,000 daughters of India, and send them to their homes safely. They were not their own daughters, not sikh or Punjabi women, but Khalsa stood for its Dharam. Abdali is angered by this act and attacks Amritsar and blows up Harimandir sahib. Baba Deep Singh ji fights with his head on his palm and frees Amritsar from enemies and attains Shaheedi.

Year 1833, Hari Singh nalwa conquers Pathans of Peshawar and assimilates this area in Khalsa Empire. A Pathan woman, Baano begum, curious to see the general who defeated the mighty Pathans and won their territory, reaches the camp of Hari Singh Nalwa. Upon seeing Nalwa Sardar, she says O general of Sikhs, I am a pathan woman, but I wish to have a child like you, from you, A Brave Sikh child who’ll have the blood of warrior who defeated my people in battlefield. Nalwa understands what the woman is saying, very next moment he bows to the lady, touches her feet and says, O mother, why you want to have some one else when I, the person who defeated your people in battlefield accept you as my mother. Accept me as your son. Baano is overwhelmed by Purity of Khalsa’s character, the high ideals of Khalsa and its Bravery and converts to Sikhi. Imagine someone else at place of General Nalwa, who holds the power and authority. What would have been his reaction?? There have been numerous battles in human history and Women have been raped and massacres carried out by winning sides upon defeated sides and nations. Now read Sikh history, No rape or murder of innocents took place during victory march of Khalsa. Infact, it was Khalsa Empire led by Maharaja Ranjeet Singh ji, which abolished death penalty in year 1804, when death sentences were carried out even in Europe and America.
